  • Happy 4 Months!

Today we officially celebrate 4 months of Nellie Rose Chung – we are happy to report that she is growing like a weed and that her development is right on track. We went to the doctor on Thursday and Nellie had her second round of immunizations – 4 shots again :(   She pulled through it like a champ – just a few short bursts of screams and tears, but she was good to go by the afternoon.

Vital stats: Nellie is 16 pounds and 25 inches long! She is tracking in the upper ranges for both height and weight and we could not be more happy that she is healthy and growing appropriately. Check out her photos at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/dlchung/sets/72157621923040507/

Time for food: Since about 7 weeks or so, she has been sleeping through the night – we put her to bed between 8:30-9:00 p.m. and then she sleeps until 6:00 – 6:30 am the next morning…we know – we are SO lucky in this regard and count our lucky stars that this is the case. With that being said however, last Tuesday, Nellie decided to wake up around 3:00 am and then did the same thing again on Wednesday night. After explaining this to the doctor and given her size, he explained that it is time to start augmenting the bottle with rice cereal – Nellie is growing up and needs more food! We are going to start her on the cereal tomorrow and are intent on filming her first “food” experience – will certainly post that for you all to see.

Some assembly required: Since Nellie can hold her head up so well, it is time to get her started in the exersaucer – this brightly colored, activity filled contraption gave me a run for my money when I had to do the assembly. You just gotta love the hard plastic products that snap together and if you screw up, it is absolute hell to try and undo – nevertheless, I prevailed. Yes folks, it has come to that – I celebrate my victories over the plastic Baby Einstein products….

We put Nellie in the exersaucer today for the first time and she did pretty well – check out this video of her spinning the rattle/noise maker contraption thing-a-ma-jig (I don’t know what the hell to call these various gadgets) http://www.flickr.com/photos/dlchung/3823467707/

Nellie is “talking” more and more with each passing day. One of her favorite activities is to still lay in her crib, stare at her mobile and her aquarium, and listen to the classics.

Mommy and Daddy are doing well – Erin has about two more weeks of work until she gets to take off again for another 2 months. We are so thankful to have had the Grandmothership with us for these two months – Erin has been able to transition back to work and we did not have to have the stressful element of having to take Nellie to daycare. The gameplan is for David to take off 5 weeks starting in November and then to start the daycare at the turn of the new year in January. We have a place picked out and are ready to go – the hard part is going to be actually taking her and dropping her off….stay tuned.

Time for the fair: We are going to take Nellie to her first agricultural fair this evening – going to go see the pig races and the rodeo! Well really, we are using Nellie as our “reason” to go get a funnel cake, caramel apple, and perhaps even a cheese steak – nothing like fair food :)

Hope you all are well and we look forward to hearing from you and we look forward to keeping you posted and updated in the weeks, months and years ahead.
